I’m Lorna, and ever since my junior high days, I’ve dreamt of becoming a hairstylist. My passion was ignited by makeover shows I used to watch as a kid. Although, I’m glad to say the industry has evolved to embrace a kinder approach since then. Originally hailing from Champaign, Illinois, where I spent the majority of my life, I took a leap of faith and moved to North Carolina in February 2022. This place has truly captured my heart, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to explore new horizons.

With over a decade of experience working behind the chair since graduating from Regency Beauty Institute in 2012, my journey has been filled with countless memorable moments. However, what truly stands out for me is the joy of achieving a seamless blend for my guests. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about a guest returning with their hair still looking fresh and knowing we’ve crafted a style that grows out beautifully with minimal maintenance required.

Hair care is not just about aesthetics; it’s a form of self-expression and confidence building. Exceptional customer service is the cornerstone of my philosophy. I believe a salon visit transcends the mere service provided; it’s about the entire experience. For many, it’s the highlight of their month, so making it special is paramount. As someone who tends to be naturally quiet, the deep connections I form with my guests are especially meaningful to me. Whether we’re engaging in heartfelt conversations or enjoying the tranquility of silent companionship, I cherish the unique bond that forms with each person who sits in my chair.

My approach to tackling complex hair challenges revolves around thorough consultations to ensure mutual understanding and prioritizing hair health above all. I owe a great deal of my personal and professional development to Amanda, the owner of the salon where I worked back in Illinois. Her mentorship set a high standard for what’s achievable in this industry and taught me the value of believing in myself. One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned is the significant impact our industry can have on individuals’ lives. Hair care is not just about aesthetics; it’s a form of self-expression and confidence building.

Every guest is unique, and through careful consultation, I tailor my services to meet their specific needs and preferences. Becoming a mentor and leader within the industry has been a remarkable journey, enhancing my ability to connect and communicate effectively with both guests and teammates.  I’m constantly seeking out new education opportunities to ensure I can recreate any trend that catches my eye.

Outside of the salon, I find joy in simple pleasures like spending quality time with friends, indulging in live music, or enjoying a game night, though I’m always on the lookout for new hobbies to dive into.  Despite my calm demeanor, I have a soft spot for heavier music, though I also appreciate the tranquility of softer tunes.
