Hidden Bead or K-Tip: Which Is Right for You?
Both methods give natural, long-lasting results, but they work differently. Hidden bead extensions use thin, hand-tied rows sewn onto silicone-lined beads. They add all-over volume and length with very few attachment points, which makes them a strong choice when you want overall fullness with low daily upkeep. The hair lasts 9 to 12 months, with a move-up reservation every 6 to 8 weeks.
K-tip extensions bond individual strands with a small keratin tip, applied one by one. That makes them ideal for fine hair, layered cuts, and adding dimension exactly where you want it, like face-framing pieces or crown volume. A set lasts 6 to 9 months with maintenance in between. If your hair is on the shorter side, K-tips can often start sooner than hidden bead.

How much do hair extensions cost at Menagerie Style House?
Your pricing is fully customized to your hair, your goals, and the method we choose together, so we confirm your exact investment at your consultation. As a general guide, hidden bead is a larger upfront investment. We install custom wefts by the row but the same hair is reused at every move-up, so your ongoing cost stays lower over time. K-tip has a more moderate starting investment, with the full set removed and reapplied every few months. Either way, you’ll receive a clear, itemized quote before anything is booked.
How long do hair extensions last?
Hidden bead extensions are worn long-term: the hair lasts up to 12 months with good at-home care, and you’ll come in for a move-up reservation every 8 to 10 weeks so we can reposition the rows as your natural hair grows out. K-tip extensions are worn as a full set for about 3 to 4 months. Rather than being moved up, the set is removed and reapplied at that point. With regular upkeep, you can wear either method year-round.
Do extensions damage your hair?
