Hey there, Lovely Souls, I’m Shira, and I’m so excited to share my story as a hairstylist and everything else that makes me,  me!

Now, I might not be a North Carolina native, but I’ve been soaking up the sunny vibes here for a while. Originally, I’m from Baltimore, but at 18, I traded chilly winters for warmer horizons. Let’s start with the spark that ignited my passion for hairstyling. I have always dreamed  of empowering people to be unapologetically themselves. I wanted to help folks express themselves and grow their confidence, and what better canvas than their hair? It’s a way to uplift and pamper, all while unleashing my creative side. So, becoming a stylist was a no-brainer.

What makes my heart beat a little faster in the salon? Color services, especially blonding. I adore giving people low-maintenance options that enhance their natural beauty, considering their unique textures, types, and densities. Curly hair also holds a special place in my heart. Having been on a journey to appreciate my own curls, I’m committed to helping others embrace their beautiful curls too. Lived-in, low-maintenance color and curly hair are my specialties.

I’ve been perfecting my hairstyling craft for three years straight and off-and-on for six. My educational journey took me through Vance Granville Community College, where I honed my skills. Among my cherished moments as a stylist, one stands out. It was the transformation of a guest who had spent their life with short buzz cuts but yearned for long, curly locks. After two years of growth and the first cut and color with me, their authentic self shone brightly. Witnessing their confidence and authentic expression was pure joy.

Now, what I truly relish is connecting with my clients on a personal level. Life’s ups and downs, experiences, joys, and challenges – I’m here for it all. Deep conversations about life, dreams, and the beautiful connections that form during our sessions are what I treasure. And hey, quiet appointments are pretty great too! My personal journey of self-discovery, learning to love every flaw and quirk, has profoundly influenced my career. It’s created a deep connection with the people I meet, both in front of and behind the chair.

When the going gets tough with a complex hair challenge, I lean on my continued education and research. If I’m ever unsure, I dive deep into practice and learning until I’ve got it down pat. Collaboration with trusted peers is another ace up my sleeve. Now, apart from the technical skills, authenticity has been my greatest lesson in this journey. It’s what I aim to bring to every client and every day.Hair care isn’t just about looking good; it’s about feeling confident and expressing oneself. It reflects your uniqueness and personality, and for some, it’s a cultural or social statement. Hair care can be a powerful self-care ritual, boosting confidence and self-expression in myriad ways.

Now, my hairstyling arsenal must-haves include Matte Waves from Oribe for those low-maintenance days and Thick Dry Finishing Spray for those va-va-voom moments. Customizing my services is an art, and I’ve mastered the art of communication. Pictures help me understand my client’s preferences, and their lifestyle guides me to realistic and manageable hair goals. Education is key, and I make sure my clients leave knowing how to care for and style their hair at home.

Beyond hairstyling, I’m a passionate gardener and house plant enthusiast. Music is my therapy, and I play the guitar whenever I can. My kids keep me on my toes, and I cherish family time. Coffee, the great outdoors, travel, and dabbling in history and cooking with my husband are my other loves. Plus, I’m itching to learn to play more instruments in the near future! My role model? That would be Emma Goldman, a woman who embodies authenticity and resilience. In my off-duty moments, you’ll also find me embracing the eclectic, from synthwave to reggae punk, bluegrass to Latin trap. I’m also an anime enthusiast, and all things extraterrestrial have a special place in my heart.

My personal journey of self-discovery has not only brought me confidence and joy but also a profound desire to help others achieve the same. It’s been a transformative experience, and I’m committed to sharing that positivity.
